One of Bavaria’s top 50 Companies
R+W is recognized as one of Bavaria’s top 50 companies after having
been presented with an award for superior growth by the Bavarian Ministry
of Economic Affairs. Bavarian Economic Minister, Mr. Erwin Huber presented
the certificate to Michael Wöber and Andreas Rimpel, after research
conducted by Ernst & Young AG, indicated that R+W met the criteria
necessary to be considered one of Bavaria’s top 50 businesses in
2007. Companies were judged by a standard called the Birch
Index, a measure of business and job growth, the main criteria of which
are:
- The company is owner operated and seated in Bavaria
- The entrepreneur holds a minimum of 15% share in the company, or 15% of the stock in the case of a publicly traded company
- The company is at least 4 years old, profitable, had at least 50 employees by year end 2006, and a maximum of 5,000 employees in 2002
- Strong growth in sales and employees from 2002 to 2006
- Even greater growth in sales and employees between 2005 and 2006
- Growth in sales and payroll were organic, and not the result of acquisitions
- The company has not won this award in the previous two years

Reference Book on Connection Elements
The coupling manufacturer R+W Antriebselemente
GmbH presents a reference book on most of today’s common
connection elements.
The book with the title' Precision Couplings and Line Shafts' introduces the technology and applications of connection elements. Theoretical basics and the design of shafts are explained, the two main types of couplings (metal bellows and elastomer couplings) and their properties are described, and different methods of connecting shafts or pins are illustrated.
An individual chapter deals with line shafts and intermediate axes used to span long distances between shafts. Volume 297 finishes by introducing a newly developed plastic coupling.
Easily understandable, brief explanatory passages make the readers familiar with state-of-the-art technology. A personal copy of volume 297, 'Precision Couplings and Line Shafts', is available on request.
R+W sets up a foundation
Klingenberg/ Trennfurt – as a result of the business success in the last years,
R+W just created a foundation with a start capital of € 50,000.
One goal of it is to promote and support children projects worldwide. The range of activity will go from investments in the education of children in need in South America, Africa and Asia to the taking of measures to fight hunger and diseases.
R+W is devoted to give an active and direct hand to poor or neglected children.
In Germany, universities will be supported too. In the future, rewards in the field of R+W will be granted to particularly innovative coupling technologies in form of scholarships. We as a company are eager to constantly promote and support new ideas coming from universities’ technical department.
This year at R+W, Christmas presents were omitted to be able to raise and transfer more funds to the association. Thanks to this, innovation prizes in the field of drive technology could be given out.
